If we want to become a better Muslim, it is compulsory for us to strive to know our religion better. Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is a source of knowledge and he has encouraged his Ummah to seek the knowledge, no matter how far he or she has to go. Quran is the source of knowledge for Muslims. There is no better way to learn your religion except Quran recitation and its learning, while creating its better understanding.
The first step to learn and understand Quran would be Quran recitation. It is the best source to learn and understand your religion followed by Hadith. Abu Hurairah (radhiallâhu anhu, meaning: May Allah be pleased with him) narrated that… the Prophet (sallallâhu ‘alayhi wasallam) said, “Those who were the best in the pre-Islamic period of ignorance will be the best in Islam provided they comprehend the religious knowledge.” (Bukhâri 4/572 and Muslim)
Another Hadith that indicates the importance of learning religion: “If Allah wants to do good to a person, he makes him comprehend the religion; and of course knowledge is attained by learning.” (Bukhâri 1/67). It surely indicates the importance of learning your religion, which is not possible without learning Quran and Quran recitation.
Islam is a complete religion and perfect in its teachings. Allah has provided us with number of sources to learn Quran from. We have to make use of these sources to become a better Muslim. So, take the first step in becoming a better Muslim and get started with Quran recitation and learning now!
